The Letter to the Church at Laodicea has a Right – Now clue for establishing our hearts for the Lord at His coming . And to guard against being left out of His Kingdom as the careless Laodicean .
It all has to do with abiding in Jesus . For the warning of the letter to the church at Laodicea is this :
The Lukewarm Church
14 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write,
‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
22 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’”
The careless Laodicean cannot be spewed OUT unless he was IN to begin with .
The point being that any Laodicean that will be spewed out like this was a Christian to start with . In Christ . The Lord is not spewing OUT someone who was not IN to begin with . These are not persons who never were Christian . These were IN Christ . Indwelt by the Holy Spirit .
But the careless Laodicean has become enamored with riches . Consider Matt 13 : 22 :
22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.
At the end of the age , we are hearing much about impending economic collapse . Many are consumed by money worries . The Christian who forsakes Jesus in his heart to worship money may find himself spewed out . Because he has already left in his heart , losing salvation at the last .
I like to observe that in heaven, you will not likely see one single coin circulating on the streets of gold . But what you WILL see circulating everywhere are the fruits of the Spirit ! All day, every day !
I want the Gold that God speaks of , refined in the fire . That I may be rich with HIM . Full of HIM . The Gold of the Divine Character , for THAT is the coin of the Kingdom ! No thorns !
As for the world economy , yes , the beast system is coming . But Christians are GOING ! Consider that the days of Lot and the days of Noah ( Luke 17 & Matt 24 ) include a functional economy at the coming of the Lord . Hardly possible right before the Second Coming , as shown by conditions in Is 13 : 12 and Is 24 : 6 .
He is Faithful, and He is coming . Very soon . Brothers and sisters , let us encourage and help one another . Let none fall away . Let no man take your crown !
